Tours at the North Carolina Museum of Art*

by former Travel Channel Host and Art Historian Lee Sandstead

"Thanks again for the great tour today. I think it's great and you do a fabulous job of being informative and entertaining! Can you please add me to your newsletter list? This all means so much to me. I wish I could go back to school to study art history - just not in the budget now. So your tours are extra special to me. Thank you!!"

Lee lectures nationally and internationally on a wide variety of art-historical and esthetic issues.  As well as being seen on TV, he has taken center stage at such notable institutions as: The Smithsonian, Dallas Museum of Art, Harvard, Yale, Duke, Virginia Tech, Penn State University, University of Michigan, University of Memphis, Virginia Commonwealth University, George Mason University and the University of Toronto.

For over a decade, Lee has developed relationships with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.  He is available for private and corporate tours.

Now, he brings his passion for art to the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC.

Friday, January 28: Must-See Masterpieces

This tour is an introduction to the collection at the North Carolina Museum of Art.  Not only will there be general discussion of broad art-historical principles, but Lee will guide attendees through those works in the museum that are absolute masterpieces.  From early Renaissance artist Segna di Boneventura to Baroque artist Rembrandt to French master artist William Bouguereau, Lee guarantees to delight and entertain as much as the artworks themselves.

For those who have not visited NCMA at night, it is a special treat.  As Lee says: "I've travelled to museums all over the world, and NCMA has some of the finest night lighting of any museum that I have ever visited.  The collection really pops."
